Aeromotive to Host Dignitaries at HROT Qualifier event and Car Show
Aeromotive, manufacturer of high performance fuel delivery components for the automotive aftermarket located in Lenexa, KS, announces Aeromotive will be host to the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow (HROT) Qualifier, one of fifteen scheduled for this national competition at the company’s annual Open House. The Open House and engine challenge event is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Located at 7805 Barton St., Lenexa, KS. Aeromotive will begin the day with a welcome and introduction of local dignitaries including City of Lenexa Mayor Michael Boehm, State Representatives Tom Cox and Linda Gallagher, State Senator Dinah Sykes and Johnson County Commissioner, Michael Ashcraft at 8:40 a.m. The qualifier officially will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at 4:00 p.m. The exciting Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Qualifier pits seven high school auto tech class teams working in timed trials to tear down and re-assemble correctly a 350-cubic-inch Chevy engine. The teams with the quickest recorded time and points will proceed to the national championship for a chance to compete for the title and scholarship funds. At a time when there is a skills gap for the automotive trades, this event has proven to grow enthusiasm and enrollment in auto tech classes and to help students develop skills that will be used in the workplace; in addition to providing scholarship, internship, and mentorship opportunities for students. Aeromotive’s Open House and car show will be in progress all day during the HROT competition. In addition there will be on display motorcycles and a selection of race cars. Throughout the day, Aeromotive will conduct company tours and provide the opportunity to get technical advice from the specialists at Aeromotive. A lunch of burgers and hot dogs with sides will be provided from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend this free event and enjoy a practice tree competition, see awesome cars, and see first-hand how quick high school students can break down and rebuild an engine. A live feed of the open house and HROT event will be available courtesy of Wes Buck, editor-in-chief of Drag Illustrated and Street Race Magazine. Director of Heartland Park in Topeka, Steve Gardner is scheduled to make announcements about new plans for the Menards Nationals presented by Minties scheduled for May 19-21; providing details of the track’s plans for the first time in its history to feature Pro-Mod’s, Nitro Harley’s and Jet Dragsters racing in Topeka.
