Aeromotive’s New Fox Body Mustang Stealth Systems
It started with weld-on sumps for Mustang fuel tanks. It evolved from there to complete tanks with pre-welded sumps and then eventually to the same tanks with built in fuel pumps and filters in the sump itself. While these systems revolutionized how modern day performance street-cars were fueled, recent advances in fuel pump technology and application specific fuel systems have changed the game well beyond the old sumped fuel tanks and systems.
Aeromotive has been on the cutting edge with performance fuel systems; developing new technology and innovative complete drop-in fuel systems using the factory fuel tanks. These new “Stealth Fuel Systems” have completely changed how we think of fueling serious performance cars. Now you can have a fuel pump capable of supporting more than a 1000 hp and all from inside you factory fuel tank without the worry of cavitation and vapor-lock, problems usually associated with big external fuel pumps and lack of proper fuel pump and tank plumbing.
Well, Aeromotive is doing all this again, but for the Fox Body Mustang. In 2003 Ford developed a specific tank for the 03 and 04 Mustang Cobras. This tank looked like a normal tank from the outside, but featured one of the finest internal baffling systems we’ve seen from an OE tank to date. Late last year, Ford decided to discontinue these tanks. At Aeromotive, we saw and opportunity to reproduce these tanks. Not only can we offer a reproduction 03-04 Cobra tank, but we can also modify the tooling in the production process to offer this same tank to fit all Fox Body Mustangs. And that is exactly what we did. The Fox Body Stealth tanks give you the best performance possible from a stock appearing tank, and our proven A1000 or Eliminator fuel pumps built right into the tank. Choose from either pump, you can now bolt in a fuel tank into your Fox that appears stock, but features an innovative baffling system, a built in fuel pump capable of supporting almost any hp demand and a pre-pump filter.
These tanks are a direct bolt-in for 1986 – 1998 ½ Ford Mustangs. Although the Fox Body began in 1979 and carried all the way through 2004, some modifications are necessary to for these system to be direct bolt-ins. See notes below on year specifications.
